I am the writer, photographer, and imagination behind Feasting on Fruit. Seven years a vegetarian, five years a vegan, and barely one year a blogger, but learning and loving it! I am constantly overflowing with creative ideas for fruity vegan food, often more than I have time to make. Sharing the health and happiness of tasty recipes brings a smile to my lips and a purpose to my kitchen.
Not only do I love being in the kitchen elbow-deep in recipe creation, I also adore photography and graphic design. In other words, I’m an artsy girl who likes to dabble in all sorts of mediums: food, photos, clay, paper, or pixels.
I am a lover of horses, tire swings, yoga, and my Aussie shepherd. She is my daily reminder of what unconditional love looks like.
I was a vegan for many years, and even a raw vegan for a while. I still love fresh vibrant vegan foods and creating vegan recipes. Even though I resisted for years, eventually I had to admit to myself that following a plant based diet was not working for me. I had to listen to the signs my body was giving me. I had to decide that feeling bad 90% of the time wasn’t worth it anymore. I was trying to force myself to fit the diet, instead of finding a diet that fits me. My health was suffering and I had to make a change.
After giving up the vegan diet, I explored a grain-free paleo style diet for about a year for the sake of gut healing and felt much better. Now I am working on moving towards intuitive eating and avoiding labels completely – just find and eat the foods that feel good and work for ME.
I try to fill my diet with as many whole foods as possible and of course lots of homemade sweet treats in the name of recipe development and because I love them!
Feasting on Fruit
I find bliss in being in an empty house with music playing and a kitchen to myself, bringing to life the recipes and creations that flow so freely into my mind. That is why I created this site: to share my ideas so they can become your kitchen creations too.
My recipes are typically sweet, indulgent-like desserts that are healthy enough to be called snacks or even breakfast. Regardless of what you call them, every recipe is on this blog is vegan. I like to experiment with gluten-free and grain-free baking too, as well as the occasional raw treat. Many of the recipes are low fat and most are oil-free, but I do have a love for coconut, cashew butter, and deeply dark chocolate too. And there are a few savory recipes sprinkled in from time to time.
In my opinion, fruit is the ultimate healthy sweet snack! So there are lots of fruit-based, fruit-sweetened, and even all-fruit recipes around here. My goal is to share recipes that don’t have to be saved for an every-once-in-a-while indulgence, but can be for anytime and all the time!
